Apprentice Development

Not only do we source apprentices, we work with them throughout their apprenticeship providing the support and NVQ based learning they need to achieve their goals.

We recognise there is more to training than just theory and skills transfer. We understand the needs of both the apprentice and the employer. We deliver a wide range of programmes for apprentices working within Government guidelines for national vocational qualifications in the following trades:

“we can attract Government funding to offset the costs of training”

Why BTAL

Our advisers are all time served engineers and are still working within the engineering industry on a regular basis to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in engineering practices. This ensures they understand the environment the apprentices are working in and can provide the right level of support throughout their apprenticeship.

We were officially recognised for excellence in this field being named in the top 24 work based learning providers in the UK as recognised by the Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) in their annual report. We maintain a work based learning contract with the LSC, this means that we can attract Government funding to offset the costs of training your apprentice.

Sourcing

We work with local educational and career establishments, advertise in local press and attend exhibitions to find the most qualified and appropriate candidates for apprenticeships. We partner with local organisations to understand their requirements and find the right candidate for the job.

Once we have sourced the candidates we will assess them and work with our member companies to arrange an appropriate apprenticeship. Finding the right candidate who fits both your needs and that of the apprentice is vitally important as it has a bearing on their motivation and the skills learnt during their time with your company.

Providing the support for skills based and technical learning during their apprenticeship is very important and BTAL will remain in close contact with them every step of the way. Not only providing help and assistance to the apprentice but also working with managers and supervisors, keeping the programme focused and ensuring the apprentice achieves their qualifications.

Many young people do not want to enter into full time higher education and would prefer a work based learning programme that will equip them with practical skills and a trade for life. Providing an apprentice with this type of opportunity can bring many benefits to an organisation.

  • Enhances Potential
Work based learning allows the apprentices to develop their potential and provides a well qualified, skilled and motivated workforce at all levels.
  • Improves Productivity
Apprentices want to learn; the skills and knowledge they acquire can make a difference to the output and quality of production within your organisation.
  • Improves Motivation
By offering apprenticeships you will find it easier to recruit and train other young engineers into your organisation. They want to be qualified and will work harder and more effectively for you.
  • Avoid Skills Shortages
Finding engineers with specific skills can be difficult, by recruiting an apprentice you can be sure that you can train in the way that most benefits your company thereby investing in your business for the future.
